This layer is a georeferenced raster image of the historic paper map entitled: Map of Mount Desert Island, Maine, compiled by Waldron Bates, Edward L. Rand and Herbert Jaques. It was published in 1896 by Geo. W. Stadley & Co. Scale 1:40,000. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to Universal Transverse Mercator projection (UTM Zone 19N, meters, NAD 83).
