Summary
This layer is a georeferenced raster image of the historic paper map entitled: To His Excellency Sr. Henry Moore, Bart., captain general and governour in chief in & over the province of New York & the territories depending thereon in America, chancellor & vice admiral of the same, this plan of the city of New York is most humbly inscribed, by His Excellency's most obedient servant, Bern'd Ratzen [sic], lieut't in the 60th Reg't ; T. Kitchin, sculp't. It was published ca. 1769. Scale [ca. 1:4,800]. Covers Manhattan below 14th St. and a portion of Brooklyn. 'Survey'd in 1767.' The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 18N NAD83 projection. All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as roads, drainage, ground cover, city wards, selected public buildings and names of property owners, city wards, and more. Relief is shown by hachures and shading. Includes index of 'References' and coat-of-arms. This layer is part of a selection of digitally scanned and georeferenced historic maps from The Harvard Map Collection as part of the Imaging the Urban Environment project.
