This layer is a georeferenced raster image of the historic paper map entitled: Depths and temperatures observed in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, by the U.S. Coast Survey S.S. Blake between 1881 & '83 including also the lines run by the H.M.S. Challenger in 1873 ; U.S. Coast Survey, J.E. Hilgard, Supt. It was published by U.S. Coast Survey in 1883. Scale 1:7,000,000. Covers the Atlantic Coast of North America from Nova Scotia to Puerto Rico.The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the 'North America Lambert Conformal Conic' projection. All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, index maps, legends, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as drainage, major cities, shoreline features, ocean depths and temperatures recorded by the U.S. Coast Survey S.S. Blake and the H.M.S. Challenger, and more.
