Summary

Pictoral map of the Highlands region extending through two million acres of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Inset of The Highlands and Eastern Seaboard. Legend indicates color coding of forests, farmlands, urban zones, protected public and private lands, wetlands, and open water. Also noted are the habitats of eight kinds of wildlife including birds, fish and mammals. Information on major hiking trails indicates highest altitudes. Map produced by the Appalachian Mountain Club in conjuctions with seven other environmental advocacy organizations. Three photographic illustrations, description of and challenges facing the Highlands Region and listing of contacts for the sponsoring organizations including name, title, phone number and e-mail contact.
