Summary
Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) is a parastatal organization under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. The Company generates, transmits, distributes and sells electricity to Tanzania Mainland and sells bulk power to the Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO) which in turn sells it to the public in islands Unguja and Pemba. TANESCO owns most of the electricity Generating, Transmitting and Distributing facilities in Tanzania Mainland. The dataset provides information on existing, under construction and proposed power stations for hydro, thermal and substations, as well as existing and under construction transmission lines. The data is geo-referenced , digitized and extracted from the national grid system map published in 2015 by TANESCO. The World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, collectively the World Bank Group (WBG) strives to enhance public access to and use of data that can support development impact.
