  1. Title: Parcels (Town of Brookline)

    Contributors:

Summary: This datalayer was developed by the Town's GIS consulting firm, Camp Dresser and McKee, Inc. (CDM) and is a polygon coverage of property lines and associated property information for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. Polygons, representing real estate parcels are labeled with a unique identifier comprised of the block, lot and sub-lot numbers found on the assessor's map sheet. Other attributes include: Owner and co-owner names and addresses, deed information, parcel size, sales information, zoning, etc.. CDM used AutoCAD, ArcCAD and ARC/INFO software packages to convert the 131 assessor's hard-copy map sheets. Within AutoCAD each assessor's sheet was registered to the Boston Edison Company's landbase GIS data on a block-by-block basis using street intersections, building footprints, and coordinate plan grid points. CDM has also generated a block-lot-sublot parsing routine to create unique parcel identifiers from the Assessor's Computer-Aided Mass Appraisal (CAMA) database. The CAMA database has over 15,000 records and contains attribute information about each parcel in the town. Mismatches between the GIS parcels and the CAMA database have been researched and reconciled by the joint effort of CDM, Brookline GIS staff, and staff from the Assessor's Office and the Engineering Department.

  2. Title: Street Edges (Town of Brookline)

    Contributors:

Summary: The street edge transportation coverage is a polyline layer describing the driveable surface of streets within the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. A related transportation feature (Back Edge of Sidewalks) is in a separate coverage. This data layer is from Boston Edison Company (BECo.). The street edge data layer was originally based on aerial photographs from 1990 and 1991 at 1' = 600' negative scale. Digital planmetric data meet National Map Accuracy Standards for 1'=100' (1:1200) mapping.

  3. Title: Backs of Sidewalks (Town of Brookline)

    Contributors:

Summary: This map data layer represents the physical back-edge of sidewalks (property-side not street-edge side) observed from aerial photography for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. The aerial photographs were taken from 1990-1991. Digital planimetric data meets National Map Accuracy Standards for 1'=100' (1:1200) mapping. This layer is part of a comprehensive inventory map and database of the town's pedestrian and transportation system.

  4. Title: Building Footprints (Town of Brookline)

    Contributors:

Summary: This map data layer represents the building footprints for the Town of Brookline, Massachusetts. This layer is from Boston Edison Company (BECo.). The original aerial photography was flown between 1990 and 1991 at 1' = 600' negative scale. The building footprints data layer was updated in 1996 with the addition of street addresses by Camp Dresser & McKee, Inc. (CDM), based upon the addresses on the Assessor's map sheets. Digital planimetric data meets National Map Accuracy Standards for 1'=100' (1:1200) mapping.

  5. Title: Zoning Areas (Town of Brookline)

    Contributors:

Summary: The zoning polygon layer is a generalized zoning coverage for the town of Brookline's current zoning ordinance. Layer features represent contiguous zoning districts as adopted in the zoning ordinance. The coverage is digitized from data collected from the existing zoning map from the Town's Planning Department, Boston Edison Company's street centerline datalayer, and the parcels datalayer. Zoning data includes polygons and labels representing the boundaries for specific zoning codes as defined by the Zoning Code.

  6. Title: Street Trees (Town of Brookline)

    Contributors:

Summary: The Street Trees layer is a point coverage inventory of each street tree in the Town of Brookline. Attributes described include species, diameter, condition, management need, growing conditions, predominant root zone cover, presence of utility or power lines, location (on the street or in a park), etc. The Brookline Street Tree Inventory was initially conducted in 1994 as a cooperative project of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, U.S. Forest Service, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management, and the Town of Brookline; other supporting organizations include the Harvard University Arnold Arboretum and the Brookline Green Space Alliance. The Town agencies involved in the project include the Conservation Commission, Tree Planting Committee, and the Department of Public Works. This project, thought to be the first comprehensive municipal street tree inventory based on GIS, recruited and trained over 100 citizens to perform the inventory. Teams of volunteers were assigned areas of the town in which to locate each street tree on the Town's Assessor's Maps for digitizing at a later time by UMass/Amherst.

  8. Title: MassGIS 2003 Massachusetts 1:5,000 Road and Rail Centerlines (October 2002)

    Contributors:

Summary: The linework in this layer - representing Massachusetts roadways and railroads - was produced as part of the 1:5,000 Black and White Digital Orthophoto images project. The goal was to eventually use the roadway linework as the geometry for the Mass. Highway Dept. Roads layer and the railroads in the Trains layer. The processing to conflate (attach) the MHD attributes to the roads in this layer has begun and will be completed in late 2003. The Central Transportation Planning Staff is updating the Trains layer. Currently this layer is best suited for plotting purposes, particularly when the desired result is to display transportation features that match the centerline of roads and train tracks visible in an underlying orthophoto.

    Contributors:

Summary: This dataset contains boundaries for water bodies in Amador County, California. This data set was derived from the USGS 1:100,000 scale National Hydrography Dataset (http://nhd.usgs.gov/), keeping all the attribution from that dataset but redigitizing the boundaries to the 1-ft resolution 2006 orthophotos obtained from AirPhoto USA for Amador County. This update process has not been completed. The field "Updated2Ortho" contains a value of '2006' for water bodies which have been updated. Water bodies for which this field has no value appear exactly as in the original National Hydrology Dataset.
