  1. Title: Endemic Bird Areas in Kenya, 1998

    Contributors:

Summary: This polygon shapefile depicts Endemic Bird Areas (EBAs) in Kenya. EBAs are sites where two or more bird species of "restricted range" (less than 50,000 sq km) occur together in the same area. Most of Kenya’s EBAs are located outside of parks and other protected areas, and all overlap or border densely settled, intensively farmed landscapes. This data was used in Map 5.3 in Nature's Benefits in Kenya: An Atlas of Ecosystems and Human Well-Being. Stattersfield, A.J., M.J. Crosby, A.J. Long, and D.C. Wege. (1998). Endemic Bird Areas in Kenya, 1998. BirdLife International. Available at: http://purl.stanford.edu/zr892st5071 Please note that this data is frequently updated. 2. Title: World (Ore deposits, 2003)

    • Point data
    • 2003
    Contributors:

Summary: Ore deposits.MRDS contains variable-length records of metallic andnonmetallic mineral resources of the world. A recordcontains descriptive information about mineral deposits andmineral commodities. The types of information in the database include deposit name, location, commodity, depositdescription, geologic characteristics, production, reserves, potential resources, and references. The MineralResource Data System master database is not accessible viathe WWW. The large number of multi-valued fields make itdifficult to import all the fields into a data format thatcan be utilized by the ArcView Internet Map ServerSoftware. This dataset contains all MRDS locations, butonly 44 of the possible 226 fields. A data structure wascreated in Access 97. Data was imported into the filestructure and then processed into Arc View, where it wastransformed into shape files that are used by the IMSsoftware to serve the MRDS data and permit access via the www.

  3. Title: Maine, 1855 (Raster Image)

    Contributors:

Summary: This layer is a georeferenced raster image of the historic paper map entitled: Colton's railroad & township map of the state of Maine, with portions of New Hampshire, New Brunswick & Canada. It was published in 1855 by J.H. Colton & Co. and C.C. Hall. Scale [ca. 1:550,000]. Covers Maine and portions of New Hampshire and the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick, Canada. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to Universal Transverse Mercator projection (UTM Zone 19N, meters, NAD 83). All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, or other information associated with the principal map. This map shows features such as roads, railroads, drainage, town, county, state, and national boundaries, and more. Relief shown by hachures. Includes tables of statistics. This layer is part of a selection of digitally scanned and georeferenced historic maps of New England from the Harvard Map Collection. These maps typically portray both natural and manmade features. The selection represents a range of regions, originators, ground condition dates, scales, and map purposes.
