Scale [ca. 1:32,000]. Covers also adjacent portions of Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes. The image inside the map neatline is georeferenced to the surface of the earth and fit to the Louisiana State Plane Coordinate System, South NAD83 (in Feet) (Fipszone 1702). All map collar and inset information is also available as part of the raster image, including any inset maps, profiles, statistical tables, directories, text, illustrations, or other information associated with the principal map.     Summary: Represents five-digit ZIP Code areas used by the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail more effectively. The first digit of a five-digit ZIP Code divides the country into 10 large groups of states numbered from 0 in the Northeast to 9 in the far West. Within these areas, each state is divided into an average of 10 smaller geographical areas, identified by the 2nd and 3rd digits. These digits, in conjunction with the first digit, represent a sectional center facility or a mail processing facility area. The 4th and 5th digits identify a post office, station, branch or local delivery area."zipcodes" represents the zipcode areas as they existed in 1990. The source is beleived to be U.S. Census Tiger/line data, but some modifications and simplifications may have been made to facilitate local usage.

    Summary: This ESRI format polyline type shapefile is a primary basemap layer for GIS mapping and analysis carried out by the City of New Orleans GIS Department. Originally it was provided by the City of New Orleans "Call 911" department, which developed the dataset. It shows the centerlines of all of the roadways within Orleans Parish to within a horizontal accuracy of three feet (3'), plus or minus, or better. No vertical data is associated with the dataset. Important attributes maintained include a unique Street Identification number; street segments corresponding to "100 block" address numbers; house number ranges; Federal CFCC road type code; Street Name; Prefix Direction; Suffix Street Type.
